PFAC Member Summary


This is an advisory role that will influence the work of the Rainy River District Ontario Health Team (RRDOHT) in providing an objective and balanced approach to patient and family perspectives across a wide range of healthcare initiatives, programs, services, and policies.


You will work in partnership with the RRDOHT and its partners to support a people-centred healthcare environment and experience. People-centred care is an approach to the planning, delivering and evaluating of health care that is grounded in mutually beneficial partnerships among patients, families, and health care providers.

 Qualities


  • A passion for enhancing the healthcare experience of patients, families and caregivers.
  • Excellent listening skills.
  • Open-minded.
  • Respects others’ opinions and perspectives.
  • Able to share thoughts and opinions in a group setting.
  • Open to see beyond personal experience and appreciate the big picture.


Responsibilities


  • Share experiences and provide input to the RRDOHT Leadership Council on issues affecting health system users served by the OHT.
  • Join additional RRDOHT Working Group meetings to offer insight from a patient/client/resident/family/caregiver perspective.
  •  Actively participate, respecting the perspective of others and being mindful of confidentiality and privacy.

Qualifications


  • A patient, or family member or caregiver of a patient, who has received care in the district within the past five years.
  • Interested in gaining an understanding of people-centred care.
  • Able to commit a minimum of 10 hours per year, during normal business hours.


Remuneration


  • These are volunteer positions, but the RRDOHT will pay honorariums and cover reasonable expenses for meeting attendance or duties in connection with the Patient and Family Advisory Committee role.
